BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL.

OLD BOYS’ ASSOCIATION. The report of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School Old Boys’ Association for tlie year 1935-36 states: Wc are pleased to be able once again to report a year of steady progress. During the year 95 members paid their subscriptions, four joining as life members. As, however, the number of old boys is approximately 3000, the committee feels that the active support accorded to tlie association is disappointing. We are pleased to record another small improvement in the finance. The statement of income and expenditure shows a surplus for the year of £5 12s 7d, and tne accumulated funds of the association now amount to £23 7s 2d. While this result is encouraging, it is regretted that more members no not pay tlieir subscriptions and so enable the association to do more in the direction of helping the school. The Palinerstonian : In this connection Air R. A. Brace is bringing a motion forward for the consideration of the annual meeting this year. Air Brace's motion is the outcome of u considerable amount ol work on the part of the editor oi the Paimerstoniau (Air Kerr) and Air Brace himself. JLf it is carried into effect it will mean t’hat every old boy will in future receive a copy of the Palmerstonian each year without any increase in his subscription to the association, and tlie editor of the Palmerstonian has agreed to extend the old boys’ section to 15 pages so long as the* necessary matter is forthcoming. As directed by the last general meeting, the committee considered the question of getting an old boys’ tie, and in due course a suitable design was adopted and the making of tne ties entrusted to a prominent English manufacturer. It is anticipated that, the ties will be available ill a lew weeks, when they will be obtainable from Messis Alillar and Giorgi. Ltd., and P.D.C.. Ltd.. The committee regret to report that the sale of old boys_ badges lias fallen off considerably, and would urge old boys not having them to obtain one ol these handsome badges from the secretary as soon as possible. During the year the committee endeavoured to assist the Wellington branch of the association to reorganise, with the result that on Saturday last a reunion was held in Wellington. It was successful beyond all anticipation, the attendance numbering 93 including seven masters from the school and a similar number of old boys who made the trip from Palmerston North. There appears every indication that next year's reunion in Wellington will assume even greater proportions. The committee wishes to express thanks to the following : —Mr J . Murray, (or again entertaining the committee at its first meeting; Mr T. M. N. Rodgers, for tlie use of his office for committee meetings; Air K. S. Glendinning, the association's honorary auditor; Air R. A. Brace, the treasurer; All' T. Iv. Eraser, secretary; stations 2ZF and 2ZO lor their assistance.
