WHEAT MARKETS.
RUSSIA CHALLENGES CANADA. Dr E. Cora Hind, Commercial and Agricultural editress of the Winnepeg Free Press, Canada, who is in Sydney after visiting many countries, told members of the Millions Club that there was a danger of Russia “putting Canada out of the wheat business in the markets of tho world within five years” by means of cheap transportation. Dr Hind, who is 75 years of age, said that -she had travelled 6000 miles in Russia, and hail been impressed, not only with the development of cheap transportation-down the rivers, but also with the renqorestation activity. The further development of cheap transportation bv means of canals would give Russia great advantago over Canada, which was compelled to haul Wheat 1000 miles by rail. Dr Hind said that, while in Paris, she was shown wheat imported from. Morocco and Tunis which, a French scientist said, was a cross of the Aurora and Florence wheats discovered by the Australian. William Farrar. This wheat is not as rich in protein nor as strong as the Manitoba wheat.
