OBITUARY.
MAJOR A. H. BATHURST. LONDON, June 13. The death has occurred of Major Arthur Henry Bathurst, Lord Bledisloe’s brother. Ho was military secretary during the early part of Lord Bledisloe’s term as Governor-General of New Zealand. DR. M. R. JAMES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 12. The death occurred this afternoon, at the age of 73, of the Provost of Eton and former Provost of King’s College Cambridge, Dr. M. R. James, following a severe heart attack yesterday. He was Vice-Chancellor at Cambridge from 1913 to 1915. A scholar in the more recondite branches of archeology whose learned works on ancient and medieval manuscripts appealed to specialists, Dr. James also acquired popular fame as a writer of ghost stories. He received the Order of Merit in 1930.
