THE GIRL IN RED.

Miss Nita. ltosslyn, popularly known as the “Girl in Red,” arrived at the Bluff on Tuesday, June 9, at 2.‘25 p.m., from Invercargill. Ten minutes after her arrival a gale sprang up with promise of a stormy passage to Stewart Island. She was received at the municipal offices by the Deputy-Mayor (Mr J. H. Doyle), the Mayor (Rev. A. E. ■Waite) being very ill, and Mr H. A. Ferguson, the town clerk. She made an exhibition of most interesting documents in the Council Chambers and was presented with a civic document of welcome bearing the town’s seal. Her arrival created considerable interest among the townsfolk, who gave has a very hearty welcome.
