PERSONAL.
Mr R- Stein has been appointed chairman of the Dannevirke Hospital Board for a further term. Mr SV. M. Horton, of the Greens P,esearch Station in Palmerston North, has been visiting Blenheim to advise the Marlborough Golf Club on the upkeep of greens. Mr G. H. Dawiek, of Palmerston North, has been appointed secretary to the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association in succession to the late Mr W. M. Tapp. Rev. L. H. Hunt, minister of the Ivarori Presbyterian .Church, Wellington, has resigned on account of illhealth. It is hoped that he will be able to resume liis ministerial duties in a year’s time. Mr W. S. Woodroofe, of Paliiatua Street, who was obliged to enter hospital following a collision with a car when riding his cycle on May 23, is, his friends will be pleased to learn, making satisfactory progress. The friends of Mr W. A. Swinbourn, of Church Street, will be pleased to learn that he is now making a steady recovery from his recent illness. Mr Swinbourn is now taking a walk each day, but it is not expected that he will be able to return to his usual duties as headmaster of the College Street School for some little time yet.
Pastor J. L. McEllhany, of Washington, has been elected world president of the Seventh Day Adventist organisation. His election took place at the world conference which closed in San Francisco on Sunday last. The retiring world president is Pastor C. 11. Watson, who has held office lor the past six years and is returning to his home in Australia. Pastor McEllhany was stationed in New Zealand some years ago.
