ADDINGTON SALE. Per Press Association. , CHRISTCHURCH. June 10. Prices were well maintained in most classes of stock at the Addington market to-day. Store sheep.—A smaller yarding and improved values for forward wethers and ewes, the former selling to 24s 7d; sound-mouthed ewes to 24s 6d; f.m. to 19s; ewe lambs to 25s 9d. Eat lambs met with a keen sale, with prices up to -Jd above schedule rates. Eat sheep.—A big entry of 5000 head. Big wethers were slightly easier, but export ewes were firmer, other sorts being unchanged. Best wethers, 27s to 355; good, 24s 9d to 276 6d; medium, 22s to 23s 6d; best ewes, 22s 6d to 27s- good, 20s to 225; export, 14s to 16s 6d. Fat cattle.—4so were penned, with little change in the market. At the Johnsonville stock sale yesterday Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., offered a small yarding of bullocks, a large yarding of station cows and heifers, and an average yarding of cows ex dairy and of runners and vealers. The cattle comprised chiefly medium to lightweight bullocks, with a few pens of heavier sorts. The heifers penned were of good quality, while the cows were plain and unfinished. All prime cattle met with a good sale at late rates. Light and unfinished station cattle were easier to the extent of 5s to 10s per head, while cows ex dairy showed no alteration. Only good quality runners and vealers met with any demand, plain and lightweight calves being hard to quit. Heavyweight wethers met with a keen 6a.le at prices firm on last week’s rates; plain and lightweights were not wanted. A small pen of prime two-tooths met with spirited competition, with prices firmer to the extent of Is per head on last week s rates. Extra prime heavy ewes sold well on previous quotations, medium and heavy were firm, while light and plain sorts were hard to quit. The lambs yarded were of indifferent quality, with only a few pens of heavyweights Good lambs met with a ready sale at prices showing no alteration, while light and unfinished lambs were hard to sell even at reduced prices. LEVIN SALE. There was a good attendance of buyers at the Levin weekly sale 1 ardmgs were not the usual size and m the pig section it was the smallest yarding presented for some considerable time. There was a small yarding of sheep and a large yarding of cattle. Owing to the scarcity of. supply prices in the

pork section ivere considerably higher than those realised the previous week, and other lines remained at par. Prices ranged as follow: —Pigs.—.Store, 20s to 25s 6d; light pork, 20s to 30s; medium, 21s to 355; heavy, 35s to £2 ■ choppers, 30s to £2 10s. Dairy stock: Springing heifers, £6, £0 10s, £7 2s 6d; springing cows, £3 los to £5 ss. PAHIATUA SALE. There was a small yarding at the weekly Pahiatua sale, there being a small attendance of buyers. Quotations: B.f. lambs, 18s; small b.f. lambs, 18s 9d. iUALTON SALE. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report a yarding of suo sheep, 50 cattle and a few.pigs at thensale held at Miirtou on Tuesday, sheep sold on a par with late sales. The ca - tie section comprised mostly store cows, with a few dairy cows and heifers. There was nothing attractive in this section and competition was inclined to drag. STORTFORD LODGE VALUES. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, June 10. The fat cattle yarded at the Stortford Lodge sale to-day showed a big improvement in quality on late sales. Values foi quality lines showed little change, prime ox beef making about 25s per 1001 b. A draft of 30 heavy bullocks averaged £lO 17s 3d; unfinished sorts ranged from £8 to £9 10s; heavy cows made to £7 10s; medium, £6 to £6 15s: other killable sorts were chiefly inferior and found little demand. An outstanding entry of 15. unweaned extra prime heifers made to £7 10s. Only a small yarding of store cattle was offered, consisting chiefly of good station eighteen-mouth steers and heifers, selling equal to last week’s values; good 3-yea.r steers realised £B. A very small yarding of store sheep was offered, with values remaining unchanged. Fat sheep found a steady market. Good ewes made 21s to 235; medium, 18s Gd to 20s; prime two tooths, to 24s 6d; lambs, generally light to medium, made 19s to 21s 9d. WESTFIELD MARKET. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 10. There was a general finning of values at the Westfield fat stock market to-day. In the ox beef section there were increased yardings which included some of the heaviest cattle penned at Westfield for some months. There was a good demand and values had a definite finning tendency. Cows and heifers sold freely at late rates. Extra choice ox beef made 27s per 100 lb; choice and prime, 23s to 255; secondary and plain, 20s to 225; prime young cow and heifer beef, 24s to 265: ordinary cow beef, 13s to 20s; extra heavy prime steers made £ll 10s to £l4 17s Od; heavy prime, £9 10s to £lO ss; lighter prime, £8 10s to £9; light prime, £7 10s to £8 5s ; small and unfinished, £4 to £0 ss; extra heavy prime young cows and lieiiers, £7 £8 2s Od; heavy prime, £5 to £6 os; lighter, £4 to £4 12s 6d; other killable cows, £2.10s to £3 7s 6d. Sheep were penned in good numbers, and while bidding tor wethers was not so spirited as last week, ewes advanced by about 2s a head. Competition for lambs was keen, and late rates were easily maintained. The calf pens were again well failed, and bidding for all classes was spirited, values being firm at fully late quotations. The 209 fat cattle yarded for the Burnside stock sale to-day comprised principally medium cjiuvlity bullocks with odd consignments of prime heavy grades and a smaller percentage than usual of cows and heifers. Prices generally were firm at late dates. The yarding of store cattle numbered 200, including a good line of 100 three and four-year steers, which in keen competition realised from £5 14s to £8 ts. Vealers were in short supply and had a firm sale. The fat sheep entry totalled 1280. medium quality ewes being forward in greatest numbers. The wethers forward were confined principally to medium quality sorts. All prime heavy ewes sold at Is higher, and medium quality ewes from 6d to Is firmer, with no noticeable change in the value of wethers. The entry of 413 fat lambs was a small, one The quality generally was unattractive, but prices remained unchanged. Only 18 dairy cows were forward, and best young sorts close to profit brought to £6.
