From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, June 9. The eucln'e and d; i ice to raiso funds for the assistance of injured footballers, held in Rongotea on Alonday evening, was a great success. The attendance was good 1 1 ;(1 tho excellent arrangements and music made the evening most enjoyable. Prizes were won by the following:—Euchre: Men, Mr T. Pitt 1, Mr E. Hobbs 2; ladies, Mrs Stattery 1, Mrs Tmrie 2. Dancing : Statue waltz. Airs R. Aird and partner; spot waltz, Aliss J. Kades and Air 11. Fades: lucky Gay Gordons, Aliss Knight and Air Chapman : Alonte Carlo waltz, Mr C. Lyons and partner; chocolates, Aliss liovtchcr; framed picture, Air P. Dixon. The rain which set in this ovMi’ng bus been eagerly awaited in many homes, for not only had doinostic supplies of water run very low but the absence of wind had resulted in windmills standing idle, and the consequ’i’t lack of water for ttock had been causing anxiety on many farms —an abnormal condition for midwinter.
