ACORN LODGE.

The half-yearly meeting of Acorn Lodge was held on Friday at the Coronation Hall, Terrace End. The A.D. presided over a very large attendance of members and visitors. One brother was received into the Order by clearance and one candidate initiated. Bro. McArthur wrote with regret requesting his clearance, as he wished to join up with Poneke Lodge. An invitation was received from Makino Lodge for four members to represent the Acorn Lodge at a smoke concert. The invitation was accepted and the A.D., V.A., P.D.P. Bro. Pascoe and Bro. Higgle are to represent the lodge. Oroua Lodge notified that they are prepared to play for the euchre shield. P.A. Bro. Richardson reported on attending the Oroua Lodge, and D.P. Bro. Drake a bowls committee meeting, stating that a competition had been arranged for next Monday. The A.D. reported on attending the Juveni'e Lodge and that games of howls had been enjoyed. P.S. Bro. Bedingfield. under stress of business and other duties, regretfully handed in his resignation as secretary to the lodge. Bro. Bedingfield has acted as secretary for the past eight years and during that period has given clreerfully of the services required. H has been a mainstay and builder of the highest order. His knowledge of lodge law, his equable temperament, his ability to arrange matters so that the business of the lodge shall he run on smooth lines is exceptional, and lie wi11... be greatly missed. This being the half-yearly meeting, the election of officers took place and the following brothers were elected for the coming term: A.D., Bro. Cappell; V.A., B"o: Strong; secretary, Bro. McLeod ; J.P.A., Bro. Bowler; 1.G., Bro. Salmon; 0.G.. Bro. Tucker; A.D.B.’.s, Bros. Henderson and Williams; V.A.B.’s. Bros. Higgle and W. Richardson: M.C., Bro. Bailey; pianist, Bro. Beattie; M.S., Bro. Gulliver: stewards, Bros. Ayers and Strong. For ritual purposes. Bro. Christensen was elected to instruct on elocution and Bro. Bailey on deportment and ceremonial. All the offices were keenly contested. P.G.P. Bro. Jackson and P.D.P. Bro. Ure acted as scrutineers and were thanked by the lodge. The lodge closed and supper was served by the stewards. Games of cards were indulged in for the remainder of the evening. LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE. The fortnightly meeting of the Loial Manawatu Lodge was. held in the lodge room, Cuba Street, on Thursday evening, a largo number of members being present. Invitations were received from the following lodges to their installations of officers: Sister Victoria Ladge, Wanganui; Loyal Marton Lodge; and the Loyal Lodge. An invitation was received from the Loyal Combination Lodge to their diamond jubilee. One new member was initiated in the Order. Bro. Jane gave a very favourable report on members who are on the sick list. Mem- - bers reported oil the bowls match with the Foresters’ Lodge, in which they were the winners by a very small margin. Bro. Jane reported on a visit made by five members to the Loyal Raetihi Lodge. A very pleasant even- .J ing was spent. Bro. Rees reported ona visit made to Dannevirke by lodge members to the annual lodge ball when a very pleasant evening was spent. The election of officers' resulted as follows :—Nobl& Grand, Bro. Dawick, P.G.; Vice Grand, Sis. Drury; Elective Secretary, Bro. Finlinson; Management Committee, Bro. H. C. Freeman was nominated. The lodge closed at 10.30 p.m., after which supper was served by the sisters.
