WOMEN’S GOLF TITLE.
LEADER’S RECORD SCORE. LONDON, Alay 16. Aliss Bridgett Newell, Derbyshire, with a women’s record of 74 to-day and an aggregate of 152, headed the field after the second' qualifying round for the women’s golf championship. Aliss Wanda Morgan, the holder (76 and 78), Airs Walker, last year’s Australian champion (77 and 77), and Aliss Jessie Anderson holder of the New Zealand championship (77 and 77), all had aggregates of 154. The nearest scores among the other leaders include Airs Goldthwaite (U.S.A.) (75 and 81), Aliss Diana Fislnvick (76 and 81), and Airs Vare (U.S.A.), formerly Aliss Glenna Collett (77 and 80). Players need 174 or better to qualify. All the Americans qualified. Aliss Nankivell suffered bitterly from the cold wind and returned a 93 for an aggregate of 180. She says she lias never, played worse. She pulled or sliced her drives, found hunkers, and missed several short putts.
