(From Our Own Correspondent 1 MAKINO, Biay 15. Despite the most u.npleasrnl weather conditions prevailing on Wednesday night, tho flag 500 party attracted many card enthusiasts and over 50 players sat down to tho games. The prizes, which were generously donated by Blr W. E. Baker, were won as follow: —Blesdambs BV. E. Baker, BV. P. Bickers and Blr E. Vautier at the winning table; and the consolaticvi prizes wore presented to Blr and Blrs 11. E. Thurston and Blrs P. Blalono. For tho pig peng players there was a handicap tournament in which about thirty competed for the prizes donated by Blrs W. E. Baker. Miss V. Petoi'sen :jkl Mr Gordon Gavigan were tho winners of tho first prizes, ri id the sealed prizes went to Miss M. Young and Blr D. Struthers. After supper, which was presided over by Bits' BV. D. R. Baker, a happy time was spout in dancing, the music being played by local musicians. Residents are looking forward to the gymnasium display and concert that is being‘staged next week in tho Blakino Hall in aid of the local church by a party from Halcombe. Mr and Blrs 11. Donnelly aro staying with tho latter’s parents, Mr and Blrs Niillat, of Eltham, during tho school holidays. Blrs G. Storrar and her son, of Whangarei, who have been the guests of Blr and Blrs BV. E. Baker, of Blakino, are now visiting other relatives in tho Feilding district. Bliss I. Amor is at present on holiday in Eltham and is the guest of her sister, Blrs Tocher. Blrs S. J. Reid, who has been visiting her daughters, Blrs P. P. Simpson and Blrs J. N. Cuming, of Blakino, is returning to-day to tho Lower Ilutt. Blrs H. Reid, of Makino Road, is visiting friends and relations in Wellington and is the guest of Mrs A. 0. Greer, of Petonc.
