NEW LEGISLATION

GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS. Per Press Associaton. WELLINGTON, May 16. The Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) stated in an interview today that the Transport Bill would be introduced in the House on Tuesday. The Bill covering the Mortgage Corporation would come down later in the week—on Wednesday, if possible. The Bill would be something on the lines of the Reserve Bank Bill and would remove the private element out of it altogether. Control would be on a basis similar to that of the State Advances Department. Mr Savage said he was still desirous of the House adjourning at the end of the month, but there was a certain amount of business to_ be done, and the House would sit till it was completed. It was not at present proposed to sit on Mondays, but the hours of sitting would depend on the progress made. “Reactionary things were done in a night in the past, and there is no reason why progress should not be made in the same way,” said the Prime Minister. The Government would do anything to get its legislation through.
