PALMERSTON NORTH BRANCH

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Palmerslon North branch oi the Plunket Society was held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Miss M. McLagan presided, also present being Mesdames A. Coombs, M. Aitchison (secretary), H. B. Free, L. A. l'erguson, L. H. Coliiuson. G. C. Petersen A. E. Hansford. H. B. Bennett, R. T. Tidswell, and AY. G. Black. Apologies for absence were received from 'Mesdames G. C. Peren, AY. M. U fibster and J. Hope Johnston. A letter was received in reference to Anzac stamps, the cause being commended by the committee. It was decided to support the object by purchasing stamps to the value of £3 3s. Representatives from the Palmerston North branch are to attend the annual meeting of the Foxton branch next week, an invitation being received. Sirs Aitchison reported that £1 Is had been received as a donation from the Ladies’ Bridge Club, per Sirs E. SI. Griggs. In future the proceeds of Sir J. R. AYood’s weighing machine would he donated to the branch, said Sirs Aitchison, the sum of £1 Is lid having recently been received. AA arm appreciation was expressed of these donations, and it was decided to write and thank Mrs Griggs and Sir AA ood. The report presented by the 1 lunket nurse (Sliss A. SI. Kearns) stated that 106 visits had been paid to homes, and 1493 to the office _ The latter number included 739 visits bv adults, Glo by babies, and 76 by older clnldren. There had been 35 new cases. Parcels of clothing were gratefully acknowledged from Slesdames Drew, Lewis, A. R. Acheson, Cowlishaw, and Inomson (knitted quilt). Dealing with outstations, the report stated that five visits had been paid to Foxton. There had been 244 visits to the office (116 by adults, 104 by babies, 24 by older children). Two new cases were added to the books. Slemberslnp fees received totalled £1 15s. The following donations bad been received :—Mrs M. 11 Pemberthy £1 Is, Mrs Romley 10s, Mrs G. Halse £l, Mrs F AV Petre, os, Mrs 11. M. Maunder 10s, Mrs C. S. Collins 10s. Mrs H. Million ss._ The collection box bad realised £1 is. The Plunket rooms will be open at the forthcoming A. and P. Show.
