TRIAL BY PEERS.
THE ABOLITION BILL. (British Official AA’ireloss.) RUGBY, May 13. The Bill for the abolition of the privilege of trial by peers for members of the peerage passed its third reading in the House of Lords this afternoon. In a House of Commons answer the Solicitor-General (Mr T. O’Connor) stated that the total cost to the public funds of the recent prosecution of a peer before the House of Lords was £686. It was this case which gave rise to Lord Sankey’s Bill, which now goes to the House of Commons.
