GATHERING. fWiniscd by the Rongotea Young Farmers’ Club! a field demonstration was held in Palmerston North to-day fm- the voun" farmers’ clubs of the dhtrict There were .about 40 young men present at the initial gathering the clubs represented being those at Rongotea AVoodville, Kairanga, and Otaki The gentlemen in charge of the ? ; were as follow: Rongotea Sleslws H. Prior s to lunch the party were conducted through the seed-testing department of the Plant Research Station, menu explained work be- • Lie in regard to selection of defiITite ?voes Mr J Watt showed how seeds aie germinated artificially for research and testing purposes and Mr T® O C Hyde dealt with the testing of samples for purity. Arrangements were made for the young farmers to visit the Ela”* Resen refi Station plots at Massey College this afternoon, where Mr E. Bruce Levy (agrostologist) had arranged to explain the work being carried on. Mr PI Hamblyn, fields superintendent nf the Department of Agriculture, had signified his intention of attending and Messrs Galpin and Lamont also sented the department.
