(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBUHN, -May 13.

On Tuesday evening two teams rcprisenting the Longburn Table Tennis Club played a team Irom Hokowhitu and a team from St. Patrick’s. The local players did very well considering these matches were the first played by the newly formed club. Longburn’s team in the 13 grade played against St. Patrick’s, and the result was a draw, and the weaker C grade team played Hokwhitu and lost by 35 games to _l. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Brock--1B Hills, and Conway. It was decided to send a delegate to the annual conference to be held in Dunedin. Mrs Pcnkclh, Palmerston North, gave a very interesting talk on life in Samoa and exhibited many articles of interest from that island. She was accorded a vote of thanks and presented with a dainty posy. The monthly competition was for the best article made from a sugar bag, and two pots of jam. There was a good number of entries in each, the former being won by Mrs Mabey 1 Mrs Rowland 2, Mrs Reid and Mrs Stephenson 3; and the latter by Mrs Row- ■ V 1 Mrs Mabey 2, Mrs Hill 3. An amusing competition for the best hat made u ut of newspaper was won bv Mrs K. Woodham. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs' T. Rowland and Miss I. Holder. The fortnightly euciire tournament was held in the Anglican Church social room on Tuesday night. The prizes were won by Mrs Boulton and Mrs Holland (consolation), Mr T. Rowland, Mr N. Mabey (consolation). Supper was served by members of the Ladies’ Guild. Miss N. Fletcher, who has been spending

a holiday with her parents at_ Karere, has returned to Auckland. Miss N. Voss, who is a pupil of the Wanganui Girls’ College, is spending the term vacation with her parents. Mr and Mrs J. Morati. Airs Aliddlemiss, and Aliss Annie Ireland, of Inglewood, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs Zurcher, have returned home. Miss M. Anderson, of Halcunbe. has returned home after spending a tew days with friends at Karere. Air and Miss C. Hills and Air L. Hills, of Awapuni, were recent visitors to Packakanki. Miss M. Stuart, of Hastings, is the guest of Alias U. Chamberlain. Miss L. Campbell is visiting friends in Wellington. Airs Boulton, of New Plymouth, is visiting her sister. Mrs J. Holland. Miss I. Holder is staying with Airs Ambler, Paremata. Alisa C. Howland is the guest of Air \\. le Cal, Titahi Bay. Mr and Airs G. Siverson held a card party recently, when a number of friends gathered to farewell Mrs Davidson prior to her departure from the district.
