ADDRESS ON MUSIC.
Not the least interesting feature of the girls’ educational week programme on M ednestley was the address on music and singing given by Mr J. Holmes linn nicies, organist and choirinastei or All Saints’ Church. Mr Runnicles dealt witli numerous phases: Voice production, breathing, etc. ; folk and national songs; instruments in general; the art 'of music, form, etc., with illustrations at the piano; and form in music, with further illustrations. Interspersed with these subjects mis community singing, the following numbers being included: “Loch Lomond, “John Peel,” “Eire, Fire,” “The Minstrel Boy,” rounds, and “Drink to Me Only.” The gathering concluded with community singing of selections requested by the gilds.
