MEN’S MUSIC CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the Young Men’s Music Club was held On Tues Jay evening. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs L. Small and H. Radford. The following was the musical programme:—Pianoforte solo, “Rontio,” from “Sonata in E Major” (Beethoven), Mr M. Picrard; trio, “Largo” (Handel), Messrs R. Buchanan, R. Rettie, L. Spencer, pianoforte solo, “Poupee Yalsante” (Poldini), Mr T. Pierard; solo, “Tho Midnight Review” (Glinka), Mr J. Durham; violin, solo, “Meditation,” from “Thais” (Massenet), Air R. Buchanan; pianofortesolo, “Yalse Triste” (Sibelius), Air J. Clayton; flute solo, “Cavatina” (Clin-, ton), Air AI. Wilson; pianoforte solo, “Toreador Song” from “Carmen” (Bizet), Air D. Westfoid. A talk was delivered by Mr AI. AVilsou upon orchestral music. The speaker traced the development of the instruments from their primitive stages to. the present day, dealing with the individual functions of each instrument in the modern orchestra. Accompanists for the evening were Alessrs L. Spencer, J. Clayton, and J. Durham.
