ROAD ACCIDENTS.

At the annual meeting of the Manawatu and District Justices’ Association definite- action was d-ecided upon to check the loss of life and the serious injuries caused by obvious disregard of the law in the matter of speed and dazzling lights. During the discussion several members suggested that these daily or hourly breaches of the law should be reported to the police by Justices of the Peace who witness them. After conferring with the Registrar of the Supreme Court, it is now pointed out by the president of the association that this would not be consistentwith the impartial attitude of a justice, who may be required at any moment to adjudicate upon the same or any similar offence. Judges and Magistrates adopt this attitude.
