EDUCATION BOARD

The monthly meeting of the "Wanganui Education Board was held on Wednesday, Mr E. F. Hemingway presiding. Those present were: Messrs hi. H. Oram, A. S. Coleman, J. K. Hornblow, R. Dukeson, W. T. Benefield, J. S. Tingey. P. Munro, Rev. G. S. King and Colonel J. H. Whyte.

A petition was received from 11 parents of 25 children in the Foxton district, praying that the bus service should he arranged in such a way that the day would not be so long for the children. At present the children leave home before 8 o’clock and do not reach home until nearly 5.30. It was decided to go into the matter. When an application was received on behalf of the Parewanui School Committee for a grant toward the cost of an irrigation plant, 'the chairman said the committee had done exceptionally good wo:k under trying circumstances. The architect (Mr E. R. Hodge) said the ground was sandv. and had been greatly improved.
