At about 9.30, last evening, the Palmerston North Fire Brigade received a false call which, however, was justified, to the new Mayfair Theatre, the alarm being given by a passerby who noticed black smoke issuing from the premises. When the brigade arrived it was found that braziers which were Sused by workmen inside the ng were the cause of the smoke.
