PACIFIC LONGSHOREMEN. SAN FRANCISCO, April 21. The threatened bitter labour struggle on the Pacific Coast was averted today when a new agreement was signed between unions and employers settling the questions in dispute. Mr T. Bridges, the men’s leader, signed the agreement on behalf of his organisation. He agreed to end the boycott against the handling of so-call-ed “hot” cargoes and have unloading operations restarted immediately. Judge M. C. Sloss, Federal abitrator, •’ill have jurisdiction over further disputes that may arise.
