ACCLIMATISATION POLICY.
CONFERENCE AGENDA. WELLINGTON, April 9. Important qustions are to be discussed at the conference of the New Zealand Acclimatisation Societies’ Association at Wellington on April 21, called at the wish of the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon W. E. Parry) to consider means to improve the work of the societies from a national point of view. Questions for discussion at the conference were indicated in outline at the meeting of the council of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society last nignt. Deiegates will be asked to answer the following questions: Is it desirable that the rules of ail societies should be reviewed with a view of co-ordination and unification, and is it desirable that the association con- j stitution be reviewed with the object of more efficient and effective control | and liaison with the Minister and the department ? Other topics are : —•: Game. —Roaring and liberation of more game, increased license fees, concentration and • centralisation of breeding; conservation, more ranging, destruction of vermin, regulation of uniformity of seasons, review of sanctuaries and penalties; landowners’ privileges; research. Opossums.—Regulation and correlation of seasons, prescribed allotment and allocation of revenue, research for improvement of strains,' more effective ranging and control. Fishing.—Co-ordination or unification of administration of fresh water fish control, boundary revision, research, improved management, distr:ct licenses, increased license fees, destruction of vermin, more efficient ranging, landowners’ privileges. Native birds. —More effective ranging. The chairman (Dr. G. F. V. Anson) and Mr A. Seed were appointed to represent the council of the Wellington soejety at the conference..
