In the House of Commons, asked if he would encourage the establishment of New Zealand’s Fail-bridge Farm School, Mr Malcolm MacDonald (Secretary for the Dominions) told Mr J. A. L. Savage's statement that the New Zealand Government would he “more than sympathetic” to a scheme of planned immigration, Mr MacDonald said he was awaiting a full report on the matter. The Overseas Settlement Board, which was meeting regularly, was examining the subject with a view to laying plans. He would submit Mr Savage’s statement to the board. Mr P. J. H. Hannon (Con.) : Is this not a matter for the board to take action immediately? „ r Mr J. Maxton (Lab.) : Will .Mr MacDonald bear in mind previous efforts in this direction and the disastrous results? Mr T. Levy (Con.) : Has the board power to institute plans, or simply consider proposals ? Mr MacDonald: The board considers proposals on any matter submitted to it by the Secretary for the Dominions.
