FOURTEEN CHARGES
ADMITTED BY ACCUSED. Per Press Association. TE KUI.TI, April 7.Fourteen charges that, being a servant of the New Zealand Government Lands and Survey Department, he stole sums of money from that department, were preferred against Richard Oleverdon jn the Magistrate’s Court before J.P’s this morning. The amount in-j volved in charges was £395 2s sd. It is alleged that, the sums were stolen from the department about the following dates : At Te Kuiti, May 19, 1934, £10; September 23, 1932, £37 Os 8d; March 1, 1934, £ls 6s 3d; November 3,'1934, £2O;
March 16, 1935, £9 16s 9d; March, 27, 1935, £ll4 Is 6d; May 24, 1935, £lb; July 31, 1935, £93 19s 2d; September 26, 1935, £6; October 30, 1935, £7 10s; November 11, 1935, £7 10s; September 13, 1935, £2B 18s sd; January 3,195 b, £2 10s; January 4, 1936, £24'los. - Evidence for the prosecution disclosed tha't accused was sub-receiver for the department, and that his duties comprised the supervision of Government farms and securities and moneys. Accused pleaded guilty to each* oi the 14 charges, and was committed to the| Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence on April 27. Bail was granted on surety | by Belf of £2OO and two others of £IOO each. *
