WHAKARONGO.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WHAKARONGO, April 8. There was a fair attendance at the annual .mooting of the Sloncy Crook Hall Association, held at Whakaroiigo last night. Tho following was tho report for the year 19315-36: “In moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet for tho past year I am pleased to be able to report a most successful period. Tho amount of revenue handled by the committee was the greatest on record, duo to tho great success of the cucliro and dance ovoningß, Tile net income is also a record, being £35 2s 6id, which roduces the bank overdraft to the sum of £5 13s, and with £4 bn cash in hand Icavos a debt of only £1 7s 6j,d on tho hall. A glance at the balance-sheet, on the expenditure side, shows a marked increase in euchre evenings owing to increased prizes and orchestra charges. Another extra debt was caused by tho improvements to the hall. Against those increases arc some 'reductions; lighting charges were lass and interest is falling with the reduction on tho overdraft. On tho other side you will notice bigger returns, especially from the ouchro and dance functions. The Women’s Institute used the hall a number of times, also tho . Ping l.’ong Club and various other committees, as well as several private people who contributed to the revenue account. The ball .building is in fair order, although there arc two or three small repairs needed due to tho recont storm. Tho committee wish ti express thanks to Air Olsen for auditing the hooks, to Air Byers for wood, to the Women’s Institute, the bachelors’ committee, Air Alorris and Air Shannon for generous donations. The euchre and dance evenings held fortnightly were a great success socialV and helped li keep tho people together. Concerts, dances, flower shows, a Christmas tea party and private engagements never allowed tho hall to become really cool. In* conclusion, tho committee wish to express their appreciation to the ladies who have given so much assistance during the year, especially A Ins Crawford, who came down especially to .prepare supper every euchre evening. Aly own thanks are due' to the secretary for the capable execution of his duties, which I am sure must have taken up a considerable amount of his time; and also to the committee in general for an earnest cnodavour to keep tho affairs of the hall in a smooth running order.” After the chairman (Alr-H. Gore) had moved tho udoption of his report, which was carried unanimously with acclamation, lie was congratulated on tho excellent execution., of his duties. The secretary also came in for special mention by the gathering for his excellent work, . especially in {he presentation of n particularly well set out balance-sheet. Three new members, . Afessrs Kaglo, G. Romlcy and R. Hodgson were elected members of the association and will be eligible to have a vote next year. Tho following new committee was elected :—’.Messrs 11. Gore (chairman), A. Crawford (secretary), 1\ Christiansen, W. Vauticr, I. Yautior, J. Alorris, R. Gore, li. Crawford, G. Hominy. The last-named four arc now members for the year.
