RUGBY TOUR.

FEELING IN THE SOUTH. Per Press Association. OAMARU, April 7. Interviewed regarding the South Canterbury Ruguy Union’s protest against tlie New Zealand Union _ allotting North Otago a match against the New South Wales team, the president of the North Otago Union (Mr A. Gilchrist) expressed disgust at South Canterbury's attitude. “This is the first match against an overseas team ever allotted to North Otago,” lie said, “and this union fully deserves consideration. The standard of play here is as good as in South Canterbury, whom North Otago beat here last season. When the Maori team played here in 1927 the gate was £314, of which £274 went to tile New, Zealand Union after North Otago had paid accommodation and managerial expenses. When the All Blacks played here the gate was £362, of which the New Zealand Union received £240 after the local union had paid for the accommodation of the team, tlie New Zealand selectors, and entertainment. Surely, after that, North Otago is entitled to consideration. South Canterbury have been favoured by visits by tho Springboks and the English team, so they have nothing to complain about.”
