POWER SUPPLY
MANAWATU-0 ROUA BOARD. MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Mana-watu-Oroua Power Board was held yesterday afternoon. Mr O. G. C. Dermer presiding. Others present were Messrs J. A. Nash, M. A. Eliott, J. Boyce, W. P. Bickers, J. H. Mason, W. G. Shannon, W. McKay, - P. G. Guy and N. Campbell. Leave of absence was granted Messrs J. Hodgens, M.P., and E. O. Bond. Mr O. R. Goodrich (Bunnythorpe) wrote asking that trees on his property be cut down, saying he was willing to pay the cost. He thanked the board for restoring the power supply so soon after the February gale.—Appreciation was expressed by the board, which decided to cut down the trees.
The West End Progressive Association wrote thanking the board for the promptitude with which repairs had been carried out in its locality. The engineer reported that a Government permit had been received to proceed with the construction of the Waiata line, and this work would now be carried out.
It was decided to provide special illuminations for the Apiti district jubilee on May 29.
The board made a donation of £2 2s to the Manawatu and West Coast, A. and P. Association for a special prize, and a grant of £1 Is towards the funds of the Palmerston North Free Ambulance service. Leave of absence for six months was granted Mr Eliott, who leaves shortly foi; abroad.
