PROMOTION EARNED.
SHIPPING MANAGER. Per Press Association. . NELSON, April 6. Mr William Rogers, the general manager of the Anchor Shipping Company, has been promoted to managingdirector of the company. Mr Rogers leaves on a holiday trip to England tonight, intending to return in December. There was a gathering of over a hundred business men of the city and district this morning to farewell Mr Rogers and congratulate him on the completion of over 60 years’ service for the company and on his appointments as managing-director. Warm tributes were paid by representative speakers to liis efficiency and tactfulness in service to the business community. , ’ . , Mr A. R. Dyson (assistant manager) will succeed Mr Rogers as general manager of the company.
