His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Galway, 'is leaving 'Wellington for New Plymouth to-day, accompanied by Sir,Standish O’Grady Roche, A.D.C. To-morrow afternoon llis Excellency will open the New Plymouth airport. On Sunday afternoon he will visit the New Plymouth Hospital, and will also present colours to the lltli Taranaki Regiment.
A' message of condolence from His Majestv, King Edward VIII, has been received by the late Sir Francis Bell’s son, Mr Cheviot Bell. Mr AV. Crawford, ALA., has been appointed principal of the Ashburton Technical High School in succession to Mr It. J. Thompson, who has retired on superannuation. Air Crawford has been senior assistant since 1927 and was previously at the Timaru Boys’ High School, states a Press Association message.
