INTER-SCHOOL MATCH. In their annual match with the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, which commenced yesterday, the Wanganui Technical College’s first eleven batted first and realised 96. In all cases the scores were moderate, Dallison heading the list with 21. He was dropped three times in the field. Anderson was the most successful of the local school’s bowlers and took 5 wickets for 33 runs while Downes, 4 for 41, also bowled well. High School opened with Annear ana Gatley and, batting confidently and aggressively, the opening pair added the runs in great style. Gatley was caught by McPhail when 23, the first wicket partnership having been responsible for the addition of 61 runs. Annear continued in bright style to make 51, an excellent opening figure. The outstanding innings of the day was contributed by Itabone, who was very unlucky not to reach the century. He batted in a free and confident style and, though not seeming to put a great deal of effort into his strokes, found little difficulty in reaching the boundary. He was finally dismissed by McPhail, who accepted a difficult catch, when his score stood at 92. Goff was associated with Rabone in a profitable sixth wicket partnership of 80 of which he contributed 38. Grant was outstanding in the bowling, securing eight wickets for 92 runs. On four occasions he - deluded the batsmen into attempting big hits which fieldsmen were waiting to accept. Details are:
