FOUND GUILTY.

CASE AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 12. William Alexander AVelsh, a ea.n/asser, aged 25, was found guilty in he Supreme Court to-day on a charge :f attempting to obtain £6O from vVilliam Leslie Raker and his wife by fraud. A son of Baker was arrested and ’ater convicted on his plea of guilty of laving stolen money from the Post Iffice at which he was employed. ■Velsh, it was stated in evidence, went o Airs Baker while her. son was-under irrest and told her that additional dealcations by her son had been dis-,-overed and that unless an amount of ;60 was paid in a few days the son night be given a long term of imjrisonment. Welsh said the information iad been given him bv a friend in the ,’ostal Service who had been investigating the thefts. The Bakers, after some delay, informed the pol.ee. AVelsh refused to divulge the name of his riend in the Post Office who, he said, vould attend to the restoration of the noney.
