WAIATA
(From Our Own Correspondent.). WAIATA, Feb. 12. A dance was held in Messrs Heneghan Bros’, spacious wool-shed, the proceeds being in aid of the Tennis Club. The members spared no effort in an endeavour to make the dance most enjoyable. Unfortunately, the weather proved very wet and cold, and no doubt this prevented many front attending, but inside the shea all was ns cheerful and warm as could be hoped for. Large covers and tarpaulins were used to curtain olf the supper i;ooin and dressing-rooms and to cover ihe floor beards in order to prevent draughts, while the walls around the dancing space were prettily screened with greenery and flowers. An interesting programme, introducing several novelty dances and competition games, was enjoyed, the winners of the latter being as follow: —Hidden names competition, ladies, Miss \Y. Dawson; men, Mr V. Gore; balloon balancing, ladies. Miss J. Miers: men, Mr B. Miers; Monte Carlo waltz, Mr •L. Taylor and Miss d. Ariel's; statute dance, Miss O. Lutze and Mr P. Gab-hell. A cake competition was won by Mr S. Billed. Music for the dancing was supplied hv Airs Redshaw and Miss P. Prime and Messrs H. Wilson, J. llencghan, \V. Lutze and S. Billcl.t.
