Mr Hartley White, of Scotland, is a.t .present the guest of Mr J. Miller, F.R.C.S.E., and Mrs Miller, of Broadway. Mr. Fraser Baillie. who is at present on the staff of the Morrinsville District High School, lias received notice that he has passed the final section of his B.A. degree. He is a son of Mr andi Mrs. J. F. Baillie, of Eketaliuna. Mr W. G. Miller, manager of the Auckland branch of the Bank of New' Zealand, and formerly of Palmerston North, with Mr W. G. Cunningham, manager of tlie Taumarunui branch, was a visitor to Palmerston North to-day. Mr Miller later proceeded to Napier. Crs. J. H. Perrett and J. Boyce were, yesterday, appointed the Manawatn County Council’s delegates to attend the conference of representatives of local bodies called by the ManawatuOroua Power Board to discuss the matter of overhanging trees on power aaid electric light lines. News has been received of the passing, yesterday morning, at the age of 77 years, of Mr George Fenwick, senior. The death occurred at the residence of the late Mr Fenwick’s son, Mr George Fenwick, junr., Raglan. The deceased gentleman was formerly associated with the Bank of New Zealand, retiring from the service when he branch.

Inspector S. Rawle, who has been in charge of the Palmerston North police district for two years, tendered to the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, yesterday afternoon, his resignation as amember of its council, owing to his impending transfer to Christchurch. Mr Bawl© added .that during his short stay he had appreciated not only the city, but its people, to the full. The resignation was accepted with regret. The president (Mr, A. J. Graham) said Mr Rawle was recognised as one of the department’s most efficient officers, and was a very useful citizen.
