LADIES’ GUILD.

CUBA STREET METHODIST CHURCH. The first monthly meeting of the year of the Cuba Street Methodist Church Ladies’ Guild was held in the Sunday school room yesterday afternoon. Mrs T. R. Hodder presided. Vases of dahlias and hydrangeas adorned the room. Mrs Hodder expressed regret that Mrs P. J. Meller (president) was unable to nttend the meeting, as she was indisposed. Mrs Ferguson (Wellington), a former member, and her daughter, Miss D. Ferguson, were welcomed as visitors. Pleasure was expressed in the attendance of Mrs Waugh, after her illness.

Mrs W. A. Boniface was elected to represent the guild at the meetings of the Manawntu branch of the National Council of Women, in view of the forthcoming departure of Mrs H. L. Richards, the former delegate. It was decided to hold a fair towards the end of June. Next month’s meeting is to be. a “bring and buy” afternoon, Mrs Dale and Mrs Wilkin T son to be in charge. The Cradle Roll mothers and their babies are to be invited to this meeting. Members contributed to the programme by speaking a quotation or verse. An enjoyable competition was won by Mrs Dale.

Afternoon tea was scerved, the hostesses being Mrs Ellis and Mrs Allsop. The meeting, which opened with a hymn and prayer, closed with prayer.
