THE ASHHURST CLUB.

CATERING FOR THE PATRONS

Realising that many of the patrons attending their meeting on Anniversary Day will be interested in the result of the AVellington Cup, the officials of the AshhurstPohangina Racing Club have made arrangements, by courtesy of the Broadcasting Board, to broadcast the running of the race on the course. This thoughtful act will be appreciated by the patrons.

AUSTRALIAN TRAINER. MR A. ROBERTSON’S VISIT. Mr A. “(Andy”) Robertson, of "Victoria, is at present on a visit to the Dominion renewing old associations. Mr Robertson spent tlie week-end with his brother, Mr J. Robertson, in Palmerston North, but went on to Wellington yesterday and he will visit the South Island prior to returning to the Manawatu. Mr Robertson is well-known in the racing world in both Australia and New Zealand as the breeder of Maribou, the winner of the last Melbourne Cup, although the gelding did not race in his interest. On that occasion there was a very happy association surrounding the Cup winner, for ho \vas trained by Mr L. Robertson, another brother, and was ridden by K. Voitro. The Robertson family were residents of the Awahuri district a number of years ago, while with Voitro also being a Palmerston North boy there vas quite a local flavour about the success. Mr L. Robertson’s stable has housed a numbor of good performers, a good winner last year being Feldspar, -whom Voitre also rode to victory on occasion.
