NEW LEGISLATION.
AMENDMENTS TO ACTS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 20. The necessary instructions for the guidance of the Crown law draftsman, in preparing an amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act have been completed, this being evidence of the progress made by the Ministers in their activities, which the Prime Minister says are , “going on swimmingly” behind the scenes. The Minister of Labour (Hon. H. T. Armstrong) also informed the “Standard’s” correspondent that he is almost ready with amendments to the Workers Compensation Act. “I don’t know whether we are likely to proceed with a complete overhaul of this legislation in the coming sess;*n,” added the Minister, “but the Government will certainly deal immediately with the most glaring anomalies, and it is a matter for Cabinet to decide whether.the whole question will receive attention at opce.”
