A POPULAR GATHERING. GOOD RACING ASSURED. The annual mooting of the AshjnirstPohangina Racing Club is always a popular ono with sporting enthusiasts, and since the club secured the Anniversary Day date, previously held by Foxton, large attendances havo boon the order. Many owners avail themselves of the opportunity of giving their horses a race at the suburban gathering boforo passing on to Trcntham for the later days, and in to-morrow’s fields quite a number are so engaged. The course has benefited materially by the rain of last week and the best of racing conditions will bo offering. Meantime, the fields arc exceptionally large; indeed the safety number of tho course is exceeded ill one or two instances, but prohably the necessity for' division races will bo avoided on tho day.
