JAPANESE COMMERCE.
AIR SERVICES URGED. TOKIO, Jan. 20. It is understood that industrialists are investigating means of linking up Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and other southward countries by aviation, possibly connecting with the British services at Hongkong and Singapore, if not direct, for the purpose of speeding up samples and mails to keep pace with European competition. Probably aeroplanes will be used as the formerly reported Zeppelin project is lagging. In this connection there are continued loud complaints concerning expensive cabling to Australia.
