TRENTHAM TRACK NOTES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 20. Altliouyh so many visiting horses are now on the scene, there was surprisingly little fast galloping at Tronthani tins morning. The outs.de of the course proper, the trial grass, and the plough tracks were all open, but the majority of the fast work was done on the course propor, on which the distances are correctly marked. The weather was brilliantly fine and the going was in excellent order, the liouves breaking the surface about an inch. Red Sun and Suneo used the trial grass for tlieir seven furlongs, the former finishing on better a length in front hi 1.29 3-5, the last half miles in 51 3-ssec. The only other gallop of noto on this track was a mile by Kinnoul! and Davola towards the close of the proceedings. Davolo was always going better and with his rider sit-, ting on him quietly he finished a length in front in 1.41 3-5, the last half mile m 52 l-ssee. There was a frequent diversion at the end of the .gallops on the course proper. The new six-strand barrier stretches across the track just past the post and many of the horses shied as they came near the finish. It will be interesting to see if tins happens on race day. Variant and Roaming ran a slick halfmile in 48sec. and Roaming appeared to lie doing it as well as his mate. Royal Papa took 51 2-sscc. Blue Garter and Guy Chief went the lust half-mile of live furlongs in 51 2-ssec. Master Reynard beat Superex by a head over live furlongs, the last half mi.o in Bon Tray, looking well, did 'five furlongs alone in 1.5, the last half mile in 52 l-ssec. und the figures would have been better if lie had not tuken fright at tlie harrier. ~ Rona Bay was going better than Argentic- at. the end of five furlongs ln 1.5, * 16 last half mile in 40sec, a good effort. (Jeine Abbas, Nurse Nightingale, Ben Braggio Laughing Lass, Ethiop, Whyte Melville, Colombo, Hollar Prince, and Silver King, lhc lastnamed looks particularly well and it :s evident that he has done plenty of hard work.
