SPREAD IN CHINA. INNER MONGOLIA’S CHANGE. SERIES OF PUPPET STATES. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received January 20, 9.55 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 19. Messages from the Far East confirm the belief that tlie Japanese are rapidly spreading their influence in China. The Daily Herald’s Pekin correspondent says tiiat as a result of Japan's new sensational blow, the vast state of inner Mongolia, hitherto under the Nanking Government’s overlordship, has declared itself independent and will now be controlled lrom Tokio as Mongkukuo. Prince Tell Wang, formerly chairman of the Inner .Mongolian Autonomous Council, has announced that he will become Supreme Ruler of an indpendent inner Mongolian empire. Prince Wang carried on secret negotiations with Tokio, Nanking, and Moscow and decided to throw in his lot with the Japanese and Manchukub Governments, wiiose troop movements forced his hand. The Manchukuo Government has presented Prince Wang, who is a direct descendant of Jenghiz Khan, with a private aeroplane and has guaranteed him ample arms supplies support in tlie event of the Nanking Government’s aggression. Japan has succeeded in outflanking Russia’s ally, an independent Outer Mongolian republic, besides completing the encirclement of North China by new puppet States accepting Japanese overlordship.
