FEILDING STOCK SALE.

MARKET QUIET.

PRICES STEADY TO BACKWARD.

AVith the attendance small and the yarding below the average there was little animation about the weekly stock sale in Feeding Yesterday. Shearing operations kept many farmers away, and m addition to this agents rdport that paddock sales have been particularly heavy of late. Fat ewes and wethers registered a decline in price, * competition being very slack. Hoggets held at a fairly firm level, but these also did not meet with the usual bidding. In the store sheep pens many lines were passed in at auction, although sales were made later. Ewe and wether hoggets suffered a setback in price, the high values of recent sales being far from reached. Store cattle made the bc6t sales of the clay, forward sorts being in quite good demand, as were also some linos of Well grown station cattle. For fat stock, the sale conformed to the general trend and showed a downward indication. A few prime cows made good values but the offering generally was hard •to quit. The few head of dairy stock sold at nominal values. Detailed prices are as under: — . The store sheep _ yarded mainly comprised 2th wethens, which were easier in price, with enquiries limited. Two-tooth ewes and ewe hoggets were also easier in price. Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report an. average entry. Fat sheep were not yarded in heavy numbers, but fat hoggets and the few pens of wethers entered failed to maintain recent prices. Fat ewes, which were for the most part low quality, mot stronger competition and the sale was fully firm on last week’s rates. Store sheep, with only a few exceptions, were penned out of the wool. The sale in this section was inclined to bo dull, and vendors were not keen to meet the easing in price; several of the larger lines were passed at auction but were sold by private treaty. A full yarding of beef cattle were submitted, but only a few pens of finished run bred cattle were offered, the remainder of the offering being dairy sorts. The sale was inclined to he a little heavy, but there was a fair sale. A medium entry of store cattle sold quite well. \\ e quote:—Fat shorn owes, 13s Bd, 14e, 15s 6d, 16s 7d, 16e 8d; fat woolly hoggets, 22s 2d, 23s 6d; fat shorn hoggets, 20s 3d, 20s 4d, 21s 3d, 235; fat wethers, 19s, 23*; 2-th ewc», 27s 6d 295; 4 and 6-th ewes, 225; store ewes 5s fid, 7s, 9s, 10s 6d; wether hoggets, 17s 7d, ewe hoggets, 22s 3d; 2-th wethers, 19s 3d, 19s 6d.
