SIMPLE FOOD
3.15 P.M EDITION
BENEFIT TO THE RACE. DOCTOR’S OPINIONS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 7, 12.50 p.m. LONDON, Dec. G. Dr. G. A. Stephens, on liis return from a world tour, including New Zealand and Australia, in an article in the Medical Officer, expressing the opinion that Jews are the most virile nation on earth owing to their strict choice of food, asks can publicists suggest that the British nation makes any approach to the Jewish standard of health. The Ministry of Health is unable to distinguish between the value of good, fresh, home-produced meat and that preserved from abroad. Our soldiers during the war were over-fed on frozen or preserved meats and consequently toxined by the byproducts of indigestion, seriously lowering their vitality. Arguing in favour of a simple, properly balanced diet, Dr. Stephens expressees the opinion that China is the best-fed country and that Japan has the best balanced dietary. The sooner Britain introduces a dietary equally well-balanced and as cheap as Japan’s the better it will be, so that our workers and fighters can compete with the Japanese on equal terms.
