(Front Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, Nov. 29. The monthly meeting of the Sandon sub-branch of the Plunkct Society was held this week, when Mrs J. 11. Perrett presided over a good attendance. It was decided to assist the baby photograph competition being held in Feikling. The following report was received from the visiting nurse: New cases, 3; visits to homes, 20; visits to rooms, adults 13, babies 8, older children 6. During the winter months several babies had colds, while mothers and children suffered with influenza, but generally good progress had boon made. Although the numbers were still small, those attending were very keen and grateful for help given. Nurse Gorrio was relieving nurse while Nurse Armstrong was on annual leave. The- 1 Boy Scouts held their annual birthday celebration in the hall. The Girl Guides were present, as were members of both committees and parents. The time was spent in games and competitions, a treasure hunt causing much amusement. It, was won by Guide M. Coulter, who also won the prize for the competition, road signs. The beautiful birthday cake made and given by Airs 11. V. Bond was cut by Mrs R. E. Fordycc (the scoutmaster's wife) and the candles were lit by Scout Jack Lawrence and Guide D. Pearce. These were later extinguished by Scout J. Coulter and Guido D. Flyger. The Guides were under the command of Lieutenant J. Kilpatrick. The supper arrangements were in the hands of Mrs W. E. Pearce, assisted hy Mesdames H. V.' Bond, R. E. Fordycc, J. Coulter, and F Tostovin. Mrs, A. K. Drew (president of the scout committee) thanked the scoutmaster (Rev. R. E. Fordycc! for the time ho had given to the troop and also those who had helped to make the evening such a success. He then presented second year service stars and second-class proficiency badges to Patrolleader G. Bond, Patrol-leader J. Coulter, and Scout-Second R. Pearce. Air 11. V. Bond (troop secretary) also spoke a few words to the troop. Mr F. Tostovin acted as accompanist for a community sing. On Wednesday a garden party in aid of the British and Foreign Bible Society and the Sandon Women’s Institute’s Christmas cheer fund was held at the residence of Mr and Airs A. IC Drew, “Brooklyno.” There was a good attendance of residents and ns a result the funds will benefit greatly. The afternoon was spent in various ways, competitions holding pride of place. These were tinder the capable hands of Airs W. E. Pearce and Mr J. W Masters. Competitions were won by Miss Eve Gallably and Airs W AleConaehie A produce stall under the charge of Mrs A. Adams and Miss G. Adams was well patronised, and afternoon tea was served. Mesdames Bowatcr Grace, F Tostovin and Miss M. McFarlanc being in charge. Thanks are duo to all those who worked so readily to make, the afternoon such a success. . . , The sympathy of residents is extended to Mr W. J. Rowan, the local postmaster, in tho death of his father.
