LORD AVOOLAVINGTON’S ESTATE. LONDON, Sept. 29. Lord AVoolavington left £7,100,000, of which £3,510 000 will be paid m death duties. His daughtei, Catherine wife of Captain Macdonald Buchanan, is the principal legatee There are numerous bequests to other relatives and employees. . A clause in the will directs that all benefactions to poor relations and others shall be continued. Formerly Sir James Buchanan, Lord AVoolavington, whose death oc curred last month, was the famous whisky magnate and racehorse owner. He was born in 1849 and entered the distillery business and subsequently became chairman of Jnines Buchanan and Co., London, and of AA. 1. Lowrie and C 0... Ltd., Glasgow. He won the English Derby with Captain Cuttle in 1922, and with Coronach in 1926. He owned homes in Sussex, Morayshire, Herefordshire. London, and at Newmarket. He was created i baronet in 1920. and in 1931 received the G.C.V.O. In 1922 lie was made a baron. J here is no heir to the title. Lord AVoolavington gave large sums to various bodies, including £50,000 for the repair and restoration of St George's Chape and £125,000 to Middlesex Hospital both in one year.
