REFEREES ON STRIKE.

RUGBY LEAGUE PASSES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. Owing to a decision of the New Zealand Rugby League to place a restriction on referees’ double free passes, the Referees’ Association last evening resolved not to do duty for any matches unless the passes admitted to the grandstand as well as the ground. The development was a cause of surprise on the eve of to-day’s Test match. Mr Cyril Snedden, the president of the New Zealand League, stated this morning that, although his council had not altered its previous decision, he was pleased to state that with the mediation of Mr Grey Campbell, the chairman of the Auckland board, under whom the referees function, satisfactory arrangements had been made for to-day pending a review by the Auckland League.
