TRAGEDY AT OPERA.
BEREAVEMENT OF SINGER. LONDON, Sept. 27 Just before Miss Eva Turner, the English prima donna, took the stage to °ing the tragic role of Agatha in the German opera “Der Freischutz at Covent Garden, her 77-year- «*d father sitting in the stalls, collapsed and * was decided not to tell Miss Turner, and, unaware of her tragic loss, she went on and scored one of the biguest triumphs of her career. In the last act Agatha waits for iier bridal bouquet, but finds the box contains a wreath. “It is an omen,” exclaims A^Th is 1 proved Strangely . true for Miss Turner. As the curtain was rung down a brother, who was informed of the tragedy by telephone, approached his sister and broke the news of the father’s death.
