TRAFFIC AT MILSON

WEEK-END CRUSH. AVOIDING A~REPETITION. During the Aero Club deinonstration at the Milson Aerodrome last Sunday the concentration of highway traffic, as reported in the “Standard” on Monday, was the source of consider-

able inconvenience as a jamb of major proportions developed. The occurrence ivas the subject of a discussion at last evening’s meeting of the committee of the Manawatu Automobile Association. ....... The chairman (Mr N. IT. Mackie) commented that the congestion ap-

peared to have been very bad, and the assistance of the City Council’s traffic inspector had been solicited. There ivas no one to blame, but to avoid a repetition of the trouble he thought some action ouirht to be taken by the authorities. “It is out of the jurisdiction of the city; it is a county matter,” Mr Mackie added. The service officer (Mr V. Crichton) stated that he had not received an invitation to participate in the traffic control and. under the circumstances, had thought it best “to keep aivay.” „ , Mr K. R. R- Holben offered the suggestion that an application lie made to the Kairanga County Council, asking that on similar occasions inspectors he placed in control. The Automobile Association would be only too pleased to help in this direction. Mr D. Collis (chairman of the Kairanga County Council) commented that he thought such action was very necessary. It was decided to act along these lines, and also suggest to the aerodrome authorities that prior notice of similar events be given the County Council.
