DANNEVIRKE.
DANNEVIRKE, Sept. *27. The annual meeting of the Dannevirke Rod and Gun Club was held last evening, Mr E. W. Marsh presiding. The secretary (Mr A. A. Tacon) presented the balance-sheet, showing a credit of £5 18s o*d, which the president remarked was very satisfactory, being one of the best they' had had for some years. On the motion of Mr "YV. Welsh, seconded by Mr Channon, the report and balancesheet were adopted without discussion. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr W. H. Gaisford; president. Mr K. A. Nash; vice-presidents, Messrs E. J. Kiely, L. Stein, G. N. Pharazyn, H. Osborn, W. C. Canning, E E Prior, G. Peters, D. L. Crooks, K Campbell; delegate to Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society, Mr W. Welsh; secretary, Mr A. A. Tacon; committee Messrs J. E. Smith, 1. G. Cliannon S. Jarrett, W. Setford, L. Earl E. W. Marsh and T. Anderson, with’ officers, ex-officio; hon. auditor, Mr A. J. Webber. Replying to Mr A. Anderson, the president said the fry received from Greenmeadows was excellent; if the quality was maintained they would have no room for complaint. Mr A. W. Klenner suggested that as the club had this year a good credit balance it would be advisable for the committee to consider wavs and means of expending the major portion of the amount in the wav they thought best in the interest of 'the club. He moved accordingly. The president, who considered the idea an excellent one, seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The president said the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation Society had communicated with the club in reference to it making a recommendstjon in regard to the appointment of a ranger for the district, and he sunested leaving the matter with the committee. This was agreed to. The annual meeting of the High School Old Boys’ Cricket Club was held last evening, Mr E. N. Hogben presiding over a good attendance of members. The balance-sheet showed the finances to be in a satisfactory condition. The election or officers resulted:—Patron, Mr N. M. Paulsen; president, Mr E. N. Hogben ; vice-presidents. Miss I. Bingham. Messrs N. Webley, H. G. Lee, G J J. Buchanan, C V. Fredrickson, R. J. MacDonald, T. D. Scott, M D Smith and R. Vartan; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. H. Ellingham; delegate to the Southern Hawke s Bay Cricket Association, Mr H. C. Bailey.
