DANNEVIRKE
DANNEVIRKE, Sept. 26. At a meeting of the Park Island Home Committee, yestei'day, Mr L. Stein, chairman of the Dannevirke Hospital Board, made a strong request for a Dannevirke Hospital Board member to sit on the finance committee, or, alternatively, for the joint committee to meet regularly, as previously agreed to by the three contributory hospital boards. The outcome of a long discussion was the passing of the following motion, moved by Air C. Lassen and seconded by Air D. Eddy:—“That the Dannevirke Hospital Board be asked to allow the matter to .stand over for the remainder of the year, and that at the end of the year the Waipawa Hospital Board be asked to agree to the finance committee consisting of the Napier Hospital Board members, Dr Berry and Mr Bedford.” A new light car driven by Air AT. AlcCormack, left the road about a mile north of Norsewood, last evening. The driver was the only occupant, and had a remarkable escape from injury. Two wins and two losses were gained by the Dannevirke amateur wrestlers who competed at Wanganui last night. Walker beat Podjurski on points, Coldstream won through his opponent retiring, Tatere was beaten by Bartlett, and Graham was beaten in the last round by Matson. Airs A. J. Webber, of Dannevirke, left this morning for Wellington to visit her sister. Employees and contractors of the Dannevirke County Council foregathered last Saturday afternoon for the purpose of presenting AL;s F. M. Baker (county clerk for 17 years), with a suitably filled envelope, and wishing her every success and happiness in the future. After the presentation Airs Baker suitably responded.
