NOTE ISSUE INCREASED. CHANGES IN DEPOSITS. WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. The . weekly statement of assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, September 23, is as follows: —

Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 96.6,6 per cent., compared with 96.69 per. cent, on September 16. There has been an increase of £133,480 in the note issue, bringing it up to £8,913,523. Government deposits at £9,751,865 show a reduction of £515,529, probably interest disbursements; while the trading .banks’ deposits at £4,401,152 show an increase of £582,806. Other demand liabilities have decreased by £194,158, the total now being £509,820. Other liabilities are £205 lower at £73,555.

On the assets side, sterling exchange is practically unchanged at £19.987,942, an increase of £79. Gold at £2,801,732 10s and investments at £2,102,858 11s 5d remain unchanged. Subsidiary coin totals £221,318, am increase of £4279. Other assets at £36.066 show an increase of £2035. The statement balances at £25,149,917 9s lOd, an increase of £6393 4s.
